Council Failure to Enforce Parking Restrictions Prompts Petition

Saturday, 12 December, 2020

A planning application for a property on Vincent Court has prompted residents to lodge a petition asking the Council to enforce its own parking restrictions.

The petition states that Vincent Court is currently permit-only parking but the petition says the Council only enforces the restrictions when there is a game at Ewood Park. This causes vehicles without permit to regularly impede access to the houses. Bin lorries often cannot access the properties and residents have to 'make do' with additional refuse sacks instead of their bins being emptied.

Residents are now requesting that the Council change the current restrictions from permit-only parking to double yellow lines and properly enforce the restrictions, with even the planning applicant signing it.

Jon Baldwin, Conservative candidate for Ewood, said "The problem here is the lack of enforcement. There is no point having single or double yellow lines if the Council is not willing to enforce them. If Council bin collections are being impeded then the Council should at least arrange for enforcement action immediately prior to when collections are due".
