I have lived in Blackburn since I met my wife in 2010 and moved here from the Lake District. Until recently I held a customer service position for a large outsourcing company in the area. However, a life changing family situation led me to follow my dream, leave my role and become a student, enrolling on degree in Computer Science and Digital Technologies. I also run my own small fledgling website design business. In between this, I look after my mother (with the help of my wife) who lives with us following a major stroke last year.
I have always had a very keen interest in computers and the Internet and following a 2 year stint at college, I became a qualified computer engineer, working for a computer company in Kendal where I remained for around 8 years. I thoroughly enjoyed my role as I always felt like I had done an honest day’s graft!
Whilst I am not a political person, after founding the Sunny Bower Community Group via Facebook, I decided that as I’ve been trained to be a good communicator, I’d put these talents to good use and make a difference for the people in the area I represent. I am not a person who simply believes in saying yes to those in authority for the sake of it, I believe that those decision makers need to be challenged for the sake of us all and I have recently been in a position to do that.
I am passionate about my community, green space and our environment. I believe we should cherish our environment and not just blindly build on it without consideration for our future generations. Green space is good for all of us and not least the wildlife and our mental health.
My hobbies include computing, music, world beers and lagers, and walking our two Pomeranian puppies.
